Iowa watersheds
Iowa is divided into watersheds, which are given a Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) according to their size. A hydrologic unit describes the area of land upstream from a specific point on the stream (generally the mouth or outlet) that contributes surface water runoff directly to this outlet point. There are 55 HUC 8 watersheds within Iowa, and smaller watersheds (HUC 10 and HUC 12 are nested within them). This project site is located within the Worle (Worrell) Creek HUC 12, a sub-basin of the South Skunk River watershed. Lake LaVerne watershed (small)
